We're not all meant to be skinny!
Kapha refers to one of the three elemental energies in Ayurveda (a 5000 year-old system of traditional medicine originating in India). A person with a predominant kapha constitution has many wonderful qualities, of which the most noticeable is the tendency towards being overweight. I've agonized over my propensity for chubbiness since puberty, having lost and gained back the equivalent of another human being. In 2006 I attended a seminar on the basics of Ayurveda, and was thrilled to finally learn that there's a name for my condition: Predominant Kapha Constitution. I adopted the name, Happy Kapha, in hopes of helping others like myself come to terms with, and be happy with, being Kapha.
Here are some of the wonderful qualities of the Kapha constitution: (source: http://www.chopra.com/kapha)
* strong build and excellent stamina. * Large, soft eyes; smooth, radiant skin. * naturally calm, thoughtful, and loving.
So a be a Happy Kapha; like me! |
